Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Journal Feature

It is no surprise that ULI Delaware Chapter chose the project, The Compass at The Grove for their December 8th tour. The Grove is a redevelopment of a 46-acre existing shopping center site. Master Planned and designed by The Martin Architectural Group along with the developer FrankieVassallo, President of Fusco The Grove Newark, DE Management, The Grove at Newark intentionally reflects the community’s needs with newly renovated retail, community green spaces, bike paths, and 300 apartment units. Projects like these are in alignment with the ULI value of ” …shaping the future of the industry and creating thriving communities around the globe.”

02. BLAST FROM THE PAST: BUTTONWOOD

“Some of the earliest significant designs in the history of our firm are a number of high-rises along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. The older project on the left built in the late 1970’s is an example of the international style which was popular at the time. The second building on the right was built in the late 1980’s and is modernist styling with artwork required at the top of the building. It was also the last major project design by Dick Martin, our founder. One unforgettable memory I had during the construction of the second building occurred when I was an intern in my first year with the firm. I was standing at the top of the tower on the roof slab, with only metal cable railing at the edge. The area felt very small, and I was convinced the building was moving, so I stayed at the center of the slab. I was never afraid of heights, until after that experience.”
